Their work was showcased throughout the world and have gained international recognition. In addition, we’re featuring a wallpaper set of last year’s Talent Call winners provided by Foam, you can check them on our website! This week, we’re going to ask a few questions to no other than Ivor Prickett!

    Who is Ivor Prickett?
27 year old documentary photographer Ivor Prickett dedicates his time to making long-term personal projects while also carrying out editorial assignments for a wide range of international clients. With a particular interest in post war situations Ivor has worked on a number projects throughout the Balkans and more recently the Caucasus. Having lived and worked in the Middle East for two years, where he documented the uprisings in Egypt and Libya in 2011, Ivor is now based in London.

What inspired you to pick up that camera and do photography?
I was inspired to take pictures after doing a short black and white photography course in my late teens. Then I became interested in documentary photography when I was introduced to the humanist work of photographers such as W Eugene Smith, Mary Ellen Mark and Don McCullin.

How did you end up deciding to enter the Foam Talent Call?
I had known about the talent call for several years and always admired the range of photographers they chose. I also respect Foam Magazine a great deal so knew it was important to show my work to the editors there. So I entered the Foam Talent Call 2011 and was lucky enough to be chosen!

What (technical) gear do you use?
I use a medium format film camera to take pictures and have a mac laptop to work on! Simple.

What do you think about Kuvva as means to showcase your work?
Kuvva seems like an interesting platform that I had not heard of before. The quality of work is obviously very high so I am happy to be given the chance to show my work there.

Do you do other things besides photography?
No, I am only good at one thing!

    What is your inspiration walhalla?
I am inspired by the things and people I photograph.

Got any essential tips for beginning photographers out there?
Make personal work that you feel is important and everything else will come.
