View set on Kuvva.comDavid Galjaard is a documentary photographer based in The Netherlands. His way of working can be typified as “slow photography”. An important aspect of this method is the depth that he wants to give his work and the curiosity that underlies it. In this series, he shows how out of fear for a foreign attack, the Albanian Stalinist leader Enver Hoxha built approximately 750,000 visible bunkers during his reign (1945-1985). The bunkers serve as a guide to illustrate the development of a European country that was the last step away from communism and start the difficult journey to become part of the capitalistic West.
